If you don’t like fantasy, it’s the character drama that makes this series great. The heroes are deeply flawed. Most of the villains have a redeeming quality or two, or at least the odd empathetic moment. All of the characters are dimensional and complex. And over the course of the series, each grows and changes in unexpected ways. What’s more, this is very much an ensemble cast. Initially, the company includes Sean Bean ( The Lord of the Rings), Mark Addy ( The Full Monty), Lena Headey ( Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles), Emilia Clarke ( Solo), Kit Harington ( Spooks aka MI5), Peter Dinklage ( The Station Agent), Nikolaj Coster-Waldau ( Nightwatch), Charles Dance ( Alien 3), and many more. New cast members are added each season, among them Gwendoline Christie ( Star Wars: The Force Awakens), Aidan Gillen ( The Wire), Jason Momoa ( Aquaman), Stephen Dillane ( John Adams), and Diana Rigg ( The Avengers).

So that’s what you get in terms of special features. As you can clearly see, it’s a lot. And much of it is very good content indeed. The question you might be asking now is: What don’t you get?

Episode Two commentary with Dave Hill, Michael McElhatton, Iwan Rhoen, Liam Cunningham, and Ben Crompton Documentaries and exclusive interviews with actors and producers of the show, including A Song of Ice and Fire's George R.R. Martin. The design of the discs could have been better, but it's elegant and clear with the content that is included. The Game of Thrones complete series box set collects every episode of the show (1–8), allowing you to visit (or revisit) the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. The story, which focuses on the conflict for the Iron Throne, is told through the perspective of multiple characters: Jon Snow (Kit Harington), Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner), Arya Stark (Maisie Williams), Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey), Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage), Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), and many others. Representing some of the Great Houses of the continent, these fan-favourite heroes and villains engage in violent clashes, both on the battlefield and in the halls of their castles. What most of them don’t realise is that there are greater threats than those directly before them; beyond the Wall (a 700-feet-tall fortification made of ice), the White Walkers are preparing their forces, waiting for the right time to venture north, and when they do, nobody — not commoner nor king — will be safe. How Much Is the Game of Thrones Box Set?All the original DVD extra bonus features provided are present along with several new features. Most are indeed “behind the scenes” video features, but some are text and still animation images, some are voiced-over by the characters (not sure these were provided by the actors or not) and some are just text you walk through and read. Nice extras but not as good as the bonus video features provided. Drop down “house banner” menus are neat but they are translucent and so is the text on them so they are not easy to read over the moving video montage that is presented behind them. Also, not a big deal, but they retract after 60 seconds if not acted upon. Of course, you can open a banner again, but don’t be surprised if it disappears after you return from grabbing refreshment.

All seventy-three episodes are included on thirty 4K Ultra HD discs, which actually do include significant special features too. What’s more, three additional standard Blu-rays have been included with additional bonus features. Here’s a disc-by-disc breakdown of all the extras you get in this set. Note that all of the video-based content is in 1080p HD: SEASON ONE: DISC ONEGame of Thrones is a great television drama. It’s a series I actually resisted starting until the original Season One Blu-ray release. Then I ended up watching all ten episodes in a single sitting, and became a loyal viewer for the remainder of the series’ run. As such, I’m pleased to report that HBO has done Game of Thrones proud on Ultra HD. The image is improved, the sound is improved, and this is the most complete and comprehensive collection of extras to date. If you’re a fan of the show and you’ve made the leap to 4K, this set is a fine and worthy upgrade. It’s not cheap, so get it on sale if you can. Nevertheless, this release is very highly recommended. For Series X users, I don't recommend you to buy this product if you use that console as your only blu ray 4k player. The weirwood tree animation at boot up of each disc is cute though it sometimes doesn’t get a chance to actually animate each time (your mileage may vary depending on your equipment.) But the momentary static “languages available” image at the start of each disc seems a bit unnecessary and maybe even a little irritating, but perhaps some may need it. Game of Thrones spans across eight seasons, and is split into eight DVD sets (both individually and the series in one boxed set). Each of the sets come with different special features, including:

The ability to walk through the Episodes menu and select any episode from the entire season then be prompted to insert the correct disk if the selected episode is not on the current one is a nice little feature. It is not available on the Season 7 and 8 sets for some reason. Starting with Season 4 and after “Dolby Atmos” audio support is available, although I don’t have the equipment to determine the difference. But the enhanced audio is certainly available. The Bonus Features set does not support Dolby Atmos (who cares?) I also tried them into a PS5 and they perfectly worked. They were impeccable, no scratches nor anything.If you are having a similar issue with this products, it probably has something to do with your player. All the discs are region free, so don't be afraid of that. As you can imagine, and as you’ll know already if you’ve seen the Seasons One and Eight 4K sets, high dynamic range adds much to this image. It’s a restrained grade, but one that makes the colors richer and more nuanced, while deepening the shadows and adding a more natural luminance to the highlights. This helps both darker night and winter scenes as well as those shot in broad daylight. The overcast sky in the North is now bolder, with a more realistic glow, while the opening sequence of the first episode (set beyond the Wall) is more gloomy and ominous. Dragon fire has greater brilliance, armor gleams more accurately in the sunlight. Finally, The Long Night can be seen as it was meant to be (for some of you, it will be like seeing the episode for the first time). Fans who can take advantage of Dolby Vision will be especially pleased by its impact on that episode. The important takeaway here is that HBO’s Ultra HD release absolutely improves upon the Blu-ray viewing experience. And while it’s not native 4K, it’s not a small improvement either. Even the 4K menu screens have been upgraded to 4K with HDR—a nice touch. Game of Thrones DVD and Blu Ray sets are different due to the technical aspects involved in their production. In addition to these features: The extra 3-disc bonus set is excellent with a two-part “Game of Thrones Reunion” feature, Anatomy of a Scene” (for Seasons 4,5,6,7), “Behind the Scenes” (for Seasons 1, 2, 4, 5), “Inside the Visual Effects” (for Seasons 1-7) and “Season 7 Deleted Scenes”. There are similar features scattered throughout the sets and I have not viewed them all…yet.
