she knew her brother, she knew he is the type of person to make dumb and spontaneous decisions (especially regarding women and relationships). After belly-crawling out of a hotel room (hello, rock bottom), she decides it’s time to become a full-on adult. As the story progresses, Hallie and Jack pretend to be in a relationship with each other, and that’s when things really start to heat up. There’s also a speed-dating event in this as well, that gives plenty of opportunities for laughs and awkward getting-to-know-people moments. I literally smiled so much while reading this book, it made me so giddy and it was the most perfect one night stand turned friends to lovers story.

The witty banter was hilarious and it also featured some of my favourite tropes - one bed trope, fake dating, and forced proximity! Whenever I read books where the characters are dating via apps, I am always like ‘well if anything happens and I end up no longer married, I will just die alone’.Both of them (but mostly Hallie I think) had been deliberately not thinking about it but there’s nothing much they can do when they’re spending pretty much every moment together, pretending to be together, sharing a room. But this brand new book is about Olivia’s brother Jack and tiny bartender/ tax accountant Hallie Piper! The FMC has some of the worst internalized misogyny/white feminism I've read in a book in a very long time, and of course the MMC goes along with it and spouts his fair share of "she's not like other girls. jack was just so incredibly bitchy and i couldn’t help but roll my eyes each and every time he was mentioned.

Their conversations are about everything including sharing their bad dates from the app and deciding to meet after those dates to discuss what went wrong while eating tacos together. After a one night stand, Hallie and Jack decide they're better off friends and make a wager on who will find true love first. My minor criticisms: I completely saw that third act drama coming (same thing with Mr Wrong Number) and IMO it was kinda not enough.Instead of telling Hallie he wants to scalp her and wear her hair like a wig (aka he likes her), he decides to cancel her date with another man and throw a fit. When Hallie goes to the app to find someone, she finds Jack, the man with who she spent a one-night stand that made up her mind to change herself. The conflict towards the end wasn’t my favorite, but thankfully things came back around pretty quick and I truly adored the ending! Well in this second book in the series, it’s her brother Jack’s turn to find love, and once again, fate may have something to say!
