Nowadays, he can be found playing the latest and greatest PS5 games as well as supporting Derby County. Geep I would assume that if the US and JP versions are separate downloads for European players, that would resolve the 50Hz problem, same as you being able to select between PAL and NTSC for the PS Plus Premium games. Along with updated Trophy lists for Sons of Liberty and Snake Eater, the Master Collection is the best way to experience all three masterpieces at once since the PS3 days. Those who purchase Volume 1 will also have access to a variety of bonus content including the two regional versions of Metal Gear, the original version of Snake's Revenge, the first and second Digital Graphic Novels in video form, and a digital soundtrack.

Comparisons between the console versions shows Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X and PS5 all run at a native 1280x720 in the Metal gear Solid 2 and 3 parts of the collection - much like the older 2011 HD Collection from Bluepoint. Still, the Master Collection marks the first-ever Trophy list for Metal Gear Solid, and earning a Platinum gong for such a coveted title is an offer most fans won't be able to refuse. In my opinion, when it comes to releases of old games the score should reflect the value of collection rather than the games itself; does it do enough to polish and modernise the games?

Both MGS2 and 3 run at the same fixed 720p resolution on PC, with no graphics menu to boost the resolution - though there are user workarounds. It's a breath of fresh air seeing Metal Gear Solid 3's busy forest areas sharpen up with nine times the pixel output of the default 720p setup. Running the Xbox 360 HD Collection on a Series X console gives us improved anti-aliasing, plus forced texture filtering via back-compat support. net is owned by Gamer Network Limited, a ReedPop company and subsidiary of Reed Exhibitions Limited. We get the PS1 classic MGS, with the VR missions pack included, we get MGS2: Sons of Liberty and MGS3: Snake Eater, with enhancements from the later Substance and Subsistence versions. For example, you'll find the bonus master books and screenplays built into the game apps themselves, but then the graphic novels are siloed off in the launcher purely for bonus features. Bonus content includes the first title in the METAL GEAR series, a Screenplay Book containing in-game text of each title and a Master Book detailing the story and characters. for mgs 1, you can get a FAR better experience simply running the game in an emulator — widscreen, better framerate and resolution included.

Today then, I'm honing in on the pitfalls present on PS5, Series X, Switch and PC, which certainly give us enough issues to talk on.The three main Metal Gear Solid games have their own launchers, versions of Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake are packaged into one, and then there's even more bonus content housed in a fifth, completely separate application. This features a form of anti-aliasing in parts to reduce moire patterns, yet elements of the image are left untreated with a similar result to the AA-less Switch version. For what it's worth, Konami has already promised updates to address several issues, with mentions of multiple bug fixes, improving cutscene performance in MGS2, adding a full-screen and window toggle on PC, plus CRT and aspect ratio options. Oddly enough, there are flashes of uncapped 60fps gameplay in MGS2 on Switch - in opening lockers or doors - despite the 30fps cap being fixed 99 per cent of the time. And once again Switch loses out in this aspect, with zero texture filtering applied to any surface - causing pixellated noise across busy textures.

The bottom line is that the Master Collection presents the core Metal Gear Solid 1, 2 and 3 games with limited enhancements over any previous release. Looks like the score is for the games themselves and not the collection which looks like a hot mess. Download of this product is subject to the PlayStation Network Terms of Service and our Software Usage Terms plus any specific additional conditions applying to this product. I'm glad to say this blur effect is at least removed for the Raiden section later on though, and in MGS3.Personally, I find these fixes more important in faithfully preserving the games on modern platforms than anything else, and shows the opposite of a cash grab. All of the bonus features you'd want out of a special release are there, but they're arranged in such a way that it's sometimes difficult to locate things — and it's always messy.
