While working on the stereo remix, Martin vowed not to do anything that his father and the Beatles would not have done if the technology had been available in 1966.

Working anxiously late into the night for a week, he filled a sheet of A2 graphic paper with magic-marker sketches — the Beatles in a hot-air balloon, the Beatles in a boat — but correctly predicted that the band would choose the image inspired by their lengthening hair: an illustration of four heads in the style of the Victorian artist Aubrey Beardsley.

While Revolver doesn’t necessarily have the kaleidoscopic depths of the 2017 remix of Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, that’s no slight. I actually like what Giles Martin did to the 2022 remix of Revolver, my second favorite album by the Beatles. I’m glad you like the remix, I thought it was fantastic, everything you said about it is exactly my feelings as well.

Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (2017), The BEATLES (‘White Album’) (2018), Abbey Road (2019), and Let It Be (2021). I know that QRP has their hands full, but surely someone with a better reputation could have been tapped. It sounds as though you are in the room with the strings as they are being recorded, and you can’t ask for anything better than that. The audio is brought forth in stunning clarity with the help of cutting edge de-mixing technology developed by the award-winning sound team led by Emile de la Rey at Peter Jackson's WingNut Films Productions Ltd.With each studio album they recorded, the Beatles sought out new ways to express themselves and push their music forward. He may have been the last Beatle to try LSD but he was the one who sought out meetings with counterculture icons such as Allen Ginsberg and William Burroughs. Well, the Ramones were named after a Beatles-related Macca alias, after all—MM] And then, the tapes were slowed down for overdubs of vocals and such. The time allocated for filming and recording songs for a soundtrack was removed from the band's schedule, allowing the group to take a four-month break before the Revolver recording sessions began. In contrast, the new stereo mix strives to deliver a bit more of that balanced feel, akin to the original mono mix.

In an interview before Revolver's August 5, 1966 release, Paul explained to NME, "We did it because I, for one, am sick of doing sounds that people can claim to have heard before. You’re right, that guitar solo in “Got to Get You Into My Life” is marvelous, and it does get overshadowed a bit in the new mix. Much of Revolver’s music and lyrics reflect the band’s experiments with mind-expanding drugs – She Said She Said was inspired by a pre-fame Peter Fonda interrupting a Lennon acid trip. The book is illustrated with images of handwritten lyrics, tape boxes, and recording sheets, as well as 1966 print ads and extracts from the graphic novel, Revolver 50. So in that respect, it is very good to listen to, if you have had a bad day where you have perhaps trodden in dogmuck, or accidentally walked in on your best friend Babish Patel as he is trying to kiss his own tallywhacker! And Your Bird and Dr Robert both bounce and rock along on an album that could have gotten weighed down with its slow strings and sad songs.
