Biography: Anton Du Beke - the King of Ballroom, Strictly Come Dancing royalty, and household name - is one of this generation's all-round entertainers. I also would have liked one more chapter on Raymond and Nancy starting the next part of their lives together but hopefully this has been saved for another book! I loved getting to know the characters and despite not having read the others, it didn’t hinder me too much. It took a little while to familiarise myself with the characters as there are a number and I had not read the earlier books in the Buckingham Hotel series. With profiteers skulking the London streets, and devious rivals plotting the Buckingham's downfall, the hotel staff must all hold onto what matters most- and decide where their loyalties lie.

As members of the staff at the Buckingham Hotel become involved in underhand schemes and plots to bring the hotel down the war around them rages. There was love and heartache, profiteers, double crossing, treachery, danger, rivalry and spirit aplenty.

There are several stories of staff being related and so events move from one perspective to another. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. He’s struggling and doesn’t know what he can do, when he can’t go back to his unit or to his old life as a ballroom dancer.I do hope you can come along – or stream along – to one of these special events, they really are such fun (as you know, I could talk for hours! The Ballroom Blitz" is the latest in the ongoing saga of the Buckingham Hotel and it's Grand Ballroom.

Those who survived Dunkirk, including Raymond de Guise and Billy Brogan, are struggling to come to terms with their injuries and the loss of comrades. With the fearless Raymond de Guise and his (poor suffering) wife Nancy, Vivienne who is left holding the baby and reeling from the events of Dunkirk. As bombs rain down on London in 1940, those employed by the well renowned Buckingham Hotel, do what they can to ensure their guests are kept comfortable. Also available: One Enchanted Evening, Moonlight Over Mayfair, A Christmas to Remember and We'll Meet Again. Surprised not only by the rich storytelling but by the way Du Beke’s charming writing is filled with glorious characters who you can’t help but feel emotion for.Billy Brogan who finds himself in somewhat of a pickle, and his sister Annie begins her employment at the Grand. Apart from 'there' instead of 'their' and 'it' instead of 'it's ' every age had word or words removed from the correct place and put in several lines above where they should be. It's September 1940 and war around London is heavy and fierce with continued bombings and air raids.

Raymond De Guise is on leave from the army after Dunkirk and the distance between himself and his wife, Nancy seems to be growing. They all have issues and most of the story involved everything from profiteering to mental health problems, poor family relationships and greed. You don't need to be a Strictly fan to relish this lively read, its glamour, magic and colourful characters contrasting starkly with the privations of grey, war-torn London. Nancy, Raymond’s wife, wants his company but he spends most nights while on leave helping out with the fire watchers, along with other men and Cathy whose fiancé died at Dunkirk. There are several different threads to this story, which are all pulled seamlessly together, making it a really enjoyable read. To be honest it took me a good few chapters to get into it as there are ALOT of characters to get your head around (thankfully a character list is included) but once you’ve got them sorted you really start to care for them. Unfortunately I was only able to give this book 3 stars because it was edited so badly that I almost couldn't read it.
